Smart city transport will refuse a taxi
The world gets closer to the future, which was drawn to us by science fiction writers: unmanned vehicles, flying machines, smart infrastructure, drones and more. However, the transition to autonomous transport of a smart city actually means big changes in society and economy in the future. So, experts believe that the transport of the smart city will displace taxi drivers from the market.
According to many analysts, when our roads are flooded with unmanned vehicles, the first industry that will suffer greatly from this is a taxi. Taxi drivers will have to quickly retrain, many drivers will quickly lose their source of income. All large taxi parks will quickly switch to autonomous transport of the smart city, because it is more profitable, safer and more comfortable in terms of no need to communicate with the employee.
How smart city transport will destroy taxi drivers
It is logical to assume that the number of accidents involving a taxi driver will be much greater than without a driver at all as taxi drivers work hard, often neglecting safety rules, not resting the required amount of time. Therefore, taxi companies will gradually fire drivers and replace them with artificial intelligence. Drivers can retrain as mechanics, who will hold vehicle maintenance, but it is humiliating for a taxi driver with experience. However, this reality will come no later than 10 years. Of course, the transport of the smart city will be unmanned not in one day, and taxi drivers will be able to prepare. Slowly the prestige of this profession will decrease. The current drivers will retire, and the young will be much smaller, and they will be easier to move to another field of activity. It should be noted that unmanned vehicles are already being tested on ordinary city roads in Moscow and Tatarstan. For greater safety each such vehicle (and 100 units are now on the roads) is marked the letter “A” – “Autonomous driving”.
Meanwhile, the technologies of unmanned transport improve. Scientists face the task to teach cars to “communicate” with each other, with the existing infrastructure – for this type of communication V2X is used. In the near future, drones will be able to distinguish pedestrians, notice traffic lights and traffic signs, urban objects.
Meanwhile, in Miami a prototype of a flying water taxi on electricity is offered. The design of Bubble Taxi involves the use of electric engine and hydrofoils, due to which such a taxi can move over the water. The motor has 20 kW of power. When accelerating to 13 km/h, the “wings” gain enough strength to lift vehicles over the water surface. Being 40 cm above the water, the machine can reach 28 km/h. In the prototype, which was successfully tested, installed battery by 21.5 per kilowatt-hour, which allows the transport to move for 2 hours without recharging, however, then you need to go to the “gas station” and stay there for about 5 hours. The company Seabubbles promised that serial copies will be equipped with more powerful batteries capable
to gain energy faster and the machine will move much faster.
